About Jucce Vape Coils

Vape coils, also known as atomizer heads, are located inside the vape tank. Consisting of twisted stretches of wire (often made of kanthal, nickel, nichrome, stainless steel or titanium), coils are placed around the cotton wick. This absorbent cotton is saturated with e-liquid, ready to turn into vapour. When you activate your vape by taking a draw or pressing a button, the battery sends power to the coils, causing them to heat up and turn the e-liquid in the wicking material into vapour. Then, you can inhale the delicious clouds of vapour through the drip tip of your vape.

High resistance coils with a resistance of 1.0 ohm or above are ideal for mouth-to-lung (MTL) vaping using nicotine salts or 50/50 e-liquids. These require less power to operate so can be used with cheaper and less powerful vape kits.

On the other hand, low resistance coils with a resistance of less than 1.0 ohm are considered sub-ohm coils. These coils can handle higher wattages and are paired with more powerful vaping devices and high VG e-liquids for greater vapour production.

Vape coils come in many different varieties designed to help you get a unique experience from your vape. One of the features that impacts your vaping experience is the resistance of the coils. Resistance, measured in ohms, refers to how easily the electrical current can pass through the material of the e-cig coil. For example, a coil with a resistance of 0.7 ohm has a low resistance and therefore it is easier for the current to pass through the coil without opposition. In contrast, a 1.6 ohm coil offers more resistance against the electrical current.

FAQs

How do I know when to get replacement coils for my vape?

You'll know it's time to switch to new coils when you taste an unpleasant burnt flavour from your vape, your e-liquid starts tasting weak or your e-cigarette starts producing less vapour. Other signs that it's time for replacement coils are that your vape is leaking e-liquid or is making a strange bubbling noise when in use. If you notice these tell-tale signs, it's time to switch out your old coil for a new one.

How frequently should I change my coils?

This depends on your vaping habits. How often you'll need to install new replacement coils depends on your vaping frequency, the type of e-liquid you use, the heat levels, the type of vape you're using and coil resistance.

Heavy vapers who use their vape many times each day might find that they need to install new replacement coils somewhere between every four days and every week. Less frequent vapers may find that they only need replacement coils once every few weeks or as little as once a month. Because it varies between vapers and devices, we recommend stocking up on a few packs of replacement coils at a time to ensure that you don't run out.

Are coils compatible with any vape kit?

No, it's important to make sure that you are buying the correct coils for your vape kit to get the best performance out of your vape. For example, the NVee Pro Coils are designed to be used with the NVee Pro Sub-Ohm Device.

What's the difference between a 1.6 ohm coil and a 0.7 ohm coil?

The key difference between these vape coils is their resistance. A 1.6 ohm coil, like these NVee Pro II replacement coils, is considered a plus-ohm coil which is suited for MTL vaping and can provide great flavours but smaller amounts of vapour. A 0.7 ohm coil, like these NVee Pro II 0.7 ohm replacement coils, is better for sub-ohm DTL vaping with greater amounts of vapour, making it the preferred choice among cloud-chasers.

What are the different types of coils?

There are many different types of coils on the market. For example, you may have come across mesh coils, which are different to traditional coils because they consist of a small sheet of metal with regular holes punched in it, giving it a mesh-like appearance. Mesh coils are favoured by some sub-ohm vapers because their large surface area helps the coil heat the wick more evenly.

Do I need to clean my coils?

Many vapers find that cleaning their e-cigarette coils helps them last longer. E-liquid can leave residue on your coils, especially if it is high in VG (vegetable glycerin) which coats the coil. Cleaning your vape tank and coils allows you to remove this build-up and achieve a better and longer lasting vaping experience.

How do I clean my vape coils?

First, take your vape device apart and empty any remaining e-liquid from the tank. Use a cotton bud to carefully clean the residue from the coil, then for a more thorough clean remove the wick and soak the coils in warm water or a clear alcohol such as ethanol. After stacking, rinse with water and leave to dry before reassembling your vape.

Do I need to prime my replacement coils before use?

Priming your replacement coils is a great way to improve their performance and lifespan. Priming is done by filling the tank with e-liquid and allowing the juice to soak into the wicking material for some time before vaping. We recommend priming your replacement coils for around 30 minutes to get the best performance out of your vape and reduce the risk of dry hits.

What are wicks?

Wicks are strips of material that are used to soak up the e-liquid in your vape tank. They are usually made of organic cotton, although vapers in the past have tried using materials such as silica and hemp with their coils.
